PLA

Polylactic Acid is a biodegradeable, and eco-friendly material made from corn starch or sugar cane. It has a low shrink rate, and produces smooth, glossy prints. It is not very durable, with poor heat resistance, and will degrade over time.

PLA is suitable for printing prototypes, models, toys, and decorative items.

ABS

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is a strong, durable material widely used in the plastic industry. It has good heat, impact, and chemical resistance. It is difficult to print with due to a high shrink rate, and production of fumes during printing. ABS is suitable for printing functional parts, tools, enclosures, and automotive parts.

SBS

Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene is a rubber-like material that is flexible and elastic. It has good abrasion and impact resistance. It is, however, not very rigid, produces a strong odor when printing, and can be sensitive to UV light and moisture. SBS is suitable for printing gaskets, seals, hoses, tires, and other rubber parts.

ASA

Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate is a material similar to ABS, but with better UV and weather resistance. It has the same strength and durability as ABS, but does not fade or degrade under sunlight or rain. It can be difficult to print with due to a high shrink rate and production of fumes during printing. ASA is suitable for printing outdoor parts, signs, garden furniture, and sports equipment.

PETG

Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol is a slightly flexible, and durable, material that is easy to print and produces impact resistant parts. It is easy to print with, but can be scratched easily. PETG is suitable for printing parts that need to be fairly water-resistant, as well as containers for food, protective packaging, or snap-fit parts.

TPR

Thermoplastic Rubber is a material that combines the properties of rubber and plastic. It is flexible and elastic, but also has good strength and stability. It can withstand high termpatures, oils, and chemicals. It can be difficult to print with due to toxic fumes, does not produce rigid parts, and can be sensitive to UV and moisture. TPR is suitable for printing grips, handles, knobs, and footwear.
